Substance Use Counselor

Position Overview The Substance Use Counselor will be in charge of assisting patients through medically assisted treatments and offering techniques for handling opioid addiction. The Counselor conducts individual and group sessions to help with crisis management and coping strategies. The Counselor evaluates patients’ progress during counseling and collaborates with doctors, nurses, and other counselors to assist patients in achieving overall outcomes. Responsibilities Assist patients through medically assisted treatments and provide techniques for handling opioid addiction. Conduct individual and group counseling sessions for crisis management and coping strategies. Evaluate patients’ progress during counseling and collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other counselors to support overall outcomes. Provide individual and group counseling services; deliver direct service hours at scheduled intervals; coordinate all services throughout treatment. Facilitate, establish, and review each patient’s initial treatment plan. Complete a bio‑psychosocial assessment. Develop aftercare and discharge plans. Ensure efficient and effective delivery of counseling services to all patients in a trauma‑informed manner. Perform other related duties as directed by the supervisor. Qualifications Must possess an LCDC in the state of Texas. Preferred previous experience working with chemically dependent individuals. Must demonstrate a positive, non‑judgmental, and accepting attitude toward patients. Understanding of an EMR system (electronic medical records). Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.
