Cost Accountant

AMETEK's Advanced Measurement Technology (AMT) business unit, within the Materials Analysis Division of AMETEK's Electronic Instruments Group, is seeking a hands-on Cost Accountant. This role supports operational and accounting activities, requiring strong organization, communication skills, and an understanding of manufacturing accounting.

Key Responsibilities

• Costing Activities
• Ensure accurate product costing, including review of BOMs, overhead rates, and related components
• Provide cost analysis to support pricing reviews
• Perform make vs. buy analysis
• Lead the annual standard cost review process
• Coordinate the annual physical inventory in Oak Ridge and Athens sites and perform monthly cycle count spot checks
• Create and monitor accounting for special projects
• Support Operations by developing and maintaining dashboards, metrics, and related reporting
• Plan, coordinate, and assist with reconciliation of cycle counts and physical inventories
• Maintain documentation of procedures performed
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements and support implementation
• General Ledger & Financial Activities
• Assist with month-end close activities and preparation of monthly financial statements
• Support the implementation and maintenance of internal financial controls and procedures
• Prepare and review account reconciliations to ensure accuracy
• Prepare and review journal entries
• Assist with internal and external audit requests
• Ensure adherence to corporate and divisional policies and procedures
• Prepare ad hoc reports and analyses and communicate findings cross-functionally

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required. 3 to 5 years of relevant experience required. Experience in a manufacturing environment. Exposure to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements. Experience with Oracle ERP systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.

Strong analytical skills. Excellent communication, presentation, and writing abilities. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
