About the Position

A leading hospital in Oceanside, New York is seeking an experienced Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant to support its open-heart surgical program within the cardiovascular surgery department. The PA will work closely with cardiothoracic surgeons providing perioperative patient care, clinical evaluation, diagnostic ordering, and treatment management across surgical and inpatient settings.

This role includes OR first assist responsibilities , participation in cardiothoracic procedures and vessel harvesting , and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. The PA will also demonstrate clinical leadership, mentorship to PA staff, and accountability in patient care while supporting high-acuity cardiovascular cases in a Level II trauma hospital environment .

Shift Timings:

• Full-time schedule

• 12.5-hour day shifts

• Rotational scheduling as required

Requirements

• Master’s degree preferred from an accredited Physician Assistant program

• Active New York State Physician Assistant License

• NCCPA Certification

• Active DEA registration for mid-level providers

• Current BLS and ACLS certification

• Recent Operating Room experience required

• Cardiothoracic Surgery First Assist experience preferred

• Vessel harvesting experience preferred
