Job Overview
Sigma Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Tax Accountant / Payroll Accountant for a contract role supporting the City of Taunton. This position focuses on tracking and reporting overtime (OT) in compliance with the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) for Police and Fire departments.
This is a great opportunity for accounting professionals with government, municipal, or payroll experience who excel at data tracking, compliance reporting, and cross-department collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Track and analyze employee overtime (OT) data on a weekly basis
- Develop and maintain accurate reporting systems aligned with OBBBA requirements
- Collaborate with Payroll and IT teams to design and improve OT tracking processes
- Prepare financial and compliance reports for internal stakeholders
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and audit readiness
- Assist in process improvements for payroll and labor cost tracking
- Support project ramp-up activities (may require additional onsite days initially)
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Experience in tax accounting, payroll accounting, or financial reporting
- Strong knowledge of overtime tracking, payroll processes, or labor cost analysis
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, data analysis, reporting)
- Experience working with large datasets and compliance reporting
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (Payroll, IT, Finance)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in government, municipal, or public sector accounting
- Familiarity with Police/Fire payroll or union environments
- Knowledge of state or federal compliance regulations
- Experience implementing or improving data tracking systems
