Job Description and Duties

Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department, is accepting applications for at least one (1) Permanent, Full-Time appointment to the Psychiatric Technician (Safety) classification within Program VI Admissions Suite. Under the direct supervision of the Unit Supervisor, the selected candidate will work and off-unit assignment from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., with weekends off. The position participates in the holiday scheduling process and requires employees to work three (3) holidays per year. The schedule is subject to change based on operational needs.

The Psychiatric Technician will assist with the admission and processing of newly admitted patients. Responsibilities include fingerprinting patients, preparing identification badges, registering patients in the Department of Justice database, processing patient property, and escorting patients to their assigned home units.

Working Conditions

Patton is a forensic psychiatric hospital and was established in 1890 and opened in 1893. DSH-Patton provides treatment to forensically and civilly committed patients within a secure treatment area. The hospital does not accept voluntary admissions.

• The position(s) require(s) Medical Clearance prior to being hired.
• The position(s) require(s) a(n) Psychiatric Technician License. You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired.
