Key Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs through history, observation, physical examination, and data analysis; implement nursing interventions consistent with the Plan of Care and physician-prescribed medical plans.
• Conduct hourly rounds utilizing the 4 P's and foster an environment of caring, compassion, and respect for patients, families, and visitors.
• Utilize standard work in caring for central lines, chest tubes, foley and suprapubic catheters, pressure ulcers, restraints, and patients at high risk for falls.
• Apply appropriate health and safety equipment to protect both patients and staff; demonstrate proper storage and safety of medications including large volume IVs, saline, and pre-packaged medication kits.
• Contribute to department performance through precepting and mentoring novice employees and supporting hospital-system Evidence Based Practice initiatives.
• Maintain a professional image and deliver excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina or compact state eligibility.
• Experience in a Medical Surgical nursing setting.
• Proficiency in care of central lines, chest tubes, urinary catheters, and high-risk fall patients.
• Knowledge of safe medication storage and handling practices.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience precepting or mentoring new nursing staff.
• Familiarity with Evidence Based Practice initiatives in a hospital setting.
• Demonstrated commitment to continued professional growth and ongoing education.
