Residential Training Coordinator

UCAN (Chicago)

Brief Description Position Title: Residential Training Coordinator Department: Residential Reports to: Residential Training Specialist Schedule: (Full‑Time | Flexible schedule required to support a 24/7 Residential environment including some evenings and weekends) About The Program Residential (RES): also known as the Diermeier Therapeutic Youth Home in North Lawndale. The facility can serve 70 youth, most of whom come through DCFS, group homes, foster care and psychiatric hospitals. The around‑the‑clock facility is staffed by more than 150 employees who provide services to decrease problematic behaviors. The program provides life skills, tutoring, therapy, educational opportunities, programmatic activities, sporting and recreational events, camping, part‑time employment opportunities, and arts and crafts, among other offerings. The goal at discharge is to have successfully engaged youth so they can transition to foster care or transitional living services. The accredited program is considered high end because of services and supports provided to youth with the most difficult behaviors. Position Objective And Summary The Residential Training Coordinator supports the implementation, coordination, and reinforcement of training initiatives within UCAN’s Residential Treatment Facility (QRTP). This role ensures staff are properly trained, compliant, and prepared to deliver trauma‑informed, Medicaid‑compliant, and safety‑focused care to youth. Working closely with the Residential Training Specialist and Residential Leadership, the Coordinator ensures training systems are organized, documented, and aligned with UCAN’s standards of excellence. This position plays a critical role in strengthening workforce readiness, improving documentation quality, and reinforcing a safe and therapeutic milieu. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Training Coordination & Compliance Schedule and coordinate all Residential onboarding and ongoing training sessions. Track completion of required certifications (TCI, CPR/First Aid, Think Trauma, Rule 132 documentation, Evolv/Netsmart training, etc.). Maintain accurate training records and compliance dashboards. Ensure timely follow‑up for missed or expired certifications. Prepare training materials and support facilitation logistics. Onboarding Support Assist in delivering components of new employee orientation specific to Residential. Conduct 30/60/90‑day follow‑up check‑ins with new hires. Support integration of new staff into the therapeutic milieu. Gather feedback to improve onboarding effectiveness. Milieu & Documentation Reinforcement Conduct floor‑based observations to reinforce proper dorm structure and expectations. Provide real‑time coaching on documentation and service note quality. Assist with progress note spot‑checks and Medicaid compliance reinforcement. Identify training gaps and communicate trends to the Residential Training Specialist. Data Tracking & Continuous Improvement Monitor training participation and completion rates. Support analysis of incident trends that may indicate skill gaps. Assist in updating training materials based on Quality Improvement findings. Collaborate with Clinical and Supervisory staff to ensure alignment between training and practice. Education / Job Experience / Certification Bachelor’s degree required (Social Work, Psychology, Education, Human Services, or related field). Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Residential Treatment, Behavioral Health, or a related human services setting. Knowledge of trauma‑informed care principles. Familiarity with Medicaid documentation and Rule 132 standards preferred. Strong organizational and administrative skills. Ability to coach staff in a constructive and professional manner. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems. Special Knowledge And Qualifications Strong communication and facilitation skills. High attention to detail and follow‑through. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Commitment to youth safety and staff accountability. Collaborative team‑oriented approach.
