Base pay range $60.00/hr - $90.00/hr Direct message the job poster from X4 Engineering Principal Consultant - Building Automation & Control Systems DC Drives Commissioning Engineer – Detroit, MI (Steel Industry Project) 12 Month Rolling We’re looking for a skilled engineer or technician with strong DC drives experience to support a major industrial controls commissioning project in Detroit, Michigan . This is a hands-on opportunity to work with large rail-mounted Pusher and Door machines used in steel manufacturing. These machines are powered by Rockwell PowerFlex DC drives and shunt-wound DC motors , and require precise setup and tuning to support manual operator control. What You’ll Do: Supervise installation and commissioning of new PowerFlex DC drives Configure drive parameters, IP addresses, and system jumpers Tune motor speed and current for smooth joystick control (no feedback devices used) Test alarms and PLC interlocks on a ControlLogix system Review and verify power, control, and network wiring Collaborate with electricians and project engineers onsite Provide daily updates and participate in weekly project status calls System Snapshot: 2 Pusher machines (5 drives each) 2 Door machines (2 drives each) Control system: Rockwell ControlLogix PLC with Studio5000 No braking resistors or motor feedback devices (tuning is visual/behavioral) What We’re Looking For: Experience with PowerFlex DC drives and DC motor tuning Proficiency with Studio5000 , ControlLogix , and ladder logic Ability to read and troubleshoot from industrial electrical schematics Comfortable working in hot, dirty environments wearing full PPE (FR gear and respirator) Strong communication skills and ability to work independently Location: Onsite in Detroit, MI Experience Level: Mid to senior, but open to capable hands-on techs with relevant skills Seniority level Seniority level Mid-Senior level Employment type Employment type Contract Job function Industries Engineering Services, Construction, and IT Services and IT Consulting Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at X4 Engineering by 2x Inferred from the description for this job Medical insurance Vision insurance 401(k) Pension plan Get notified about new Commissioning Engineer jobs in Detroit Metropolitan Area .
