Surgical Technologist

Job Summary The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) plays a crucial role in the operating room by functioning as the scrub person under the supervision of the surgeon and registered nurse. The CST ensures the safety of the operating room environment and the proper functioning of surgical equipment. This role requires applying knowledge of surgical techniques, human anatomy, and procedures to facilitate safe and efficient patient care during invasive therapeutic and diagnostic surgeries. Responsibilities Function as scrub person in the operating room supporting surgeons and RNs. Ensure safety and proper functioning of the operating room environment and surgical equipment. Apply knowledge of surgical techniques and anatomy to assist in procedures. Use surgical tools and technologies during invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Complete case carts according to surgeon preference cards. Interpret preference cards to procure necessary instruments and supplies. Communicate effectively with operating room and sterile processing staff to coordinate instrumentation for cases. Review daily surgical schedule with charge nurse and sterile processing coordinator to identify potential delays or issues. Manage core phone duties, delegate tasks, and coordinate staff breaks and lunches. Serve as a resource for Surgical Services and Sterile Processing Departments regarding procurement of supplies and instruments. Coordinate with materials management for supply utilization and deployment. Required Skills & Certifications High School Diploma or Equivalent. Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent military program. American Heart Association BLS certification. Preferred Skills & Certifications Minimum of 2 years relevant surgical technologist experience preferred. Special Considerations Work performed in a fast-paced, sterile operating room environment requiring strict adherence to safety and infection control protocols. Coordination with multiple departments including sterile processing and materials management is essential. Scheduling Work schedule and shift assignments typically align with operating room hours and surgical case schedules; may include early mornings, evenings, or weekends depending on case load. #J-18808-Ljbffr vTech Solution
