Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN General, Dialysis) Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Staff Augmentation Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Evening Hours per Shift: 8 hours (2:00 PM - 10:00 PM) Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Active Registered Nurse License Certifications: Relevant certifications required Must-Have: Must be flexible with scheduling, including holidays Description: Provides professional nursing care to patients in a correctional facility. Observes, assesses, and records symptoms, reactions, and progress of patients. Makes nursing rounds and takes and records vital signs. Prepares and administers prescribed medications and treatment plans. Monitors patients in restraints on a timely basis and provides immediate medical attention in emergencies. Administers first aid and arranges transportation to the hospital emergency room as necessary. Counsels patients regarding the need for medical referrals. May schedule, assign, and review work of lower-level staff. Participates in staff development and education. Reviews care plans written by staff and trains or orients new employees. Responsible for the health care of bedridden patients. Evaluates care needed and rendered, develops care plans, and teaches health care principles. Administers medications, including narcotics, and all direct nursing care as needed. Performs specialized procedures such as IV therapy, chemotherapy, wound care, oxygen therapy, dialysis, blood transfusion, intubation, CPR, tube feeding, catheterization, suctioning, and phlebotomy duties. Organizes and oversees emergency response teams. Directs health care staff assigned to the area. Acts as lead worker in charge of one assigned shift in the absence of supervisory staff. Assists in providing diagnostic health evaluations to patients. Performs clerical tasks, including charting and documenting medications. Completes required reports such as incident and accident reports. Maintains inventory of controlled drugs and medical equipment. Arranges for outpatient clinic appointments and medical examinations. Serves as instructor on occasion and attends meetings. Participates in problem-solving teams or groups.
