Join the Wentzville Plant as a Journeyperson Electrician trusted to install, maintain, and restore complex electrical and control systems with minimal supervision. Your work follows OSHA and GM safety standards and directly safeguards uptime and product quality.

Your impact

• Keep people and equipment safe by following OSHA and GM safety protocols.
• Own maintenance and repair of plant electrical equipment and systems.
• Troubleshoot malfunctions in machinery/components ; implement fixes fast to minimize downtime.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on control systems, power distribution, and circuits.
• Read/interpret wiring diagrams and electrical schematics to plan and execute work.
• Drive continuous improvement and strong cross-team collaboration.
• Apply advanced problem-solving in a high-paced manufacturing setting.

Required background

• 6+ years as an Electrician or a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion in the Electrical trade.
• 18 years of age or older.
• Open to day, afternoon, or night shifts; willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays with little notice.
• May be hired as Journeyperson In Training (JIT) or Journeyperson. Pay ranges: JIT $37.78–$44.08; Journeyperson $44.98. Final status and pay are based on certificates/credentials and interview scoring.
• Current GM employees covered by a collective bargaining agreement should contact local HR/LR for placement options.

Physical requirements

• Rapid response to safety instructions, alarms, and signals.
• Ability to stand/work for long periods and move through an active plant.
• Comfort using required PPE.
• Capability to bend, twist, kneel, crouch, and reach.
• Lift/carry up to 50 lbs. as needed by department.
• Occasional seated work.
• Operate mobile equipment as required.

Pay, benefits, and other details

• General Motors UAW hourly employment offers a very competitive compensation and benefit package. An annual incentive payout is also available, as qualified.
• Relocation and travel expenses will be the responsibility of the applicant.
