Advanced Practice Provider, Behavioral Health (APRN/PA)

Position Description Employees in this position are responsible for augmenting a supervising physician’s data gathering abilities to reach decisions and institute patient care plans. They provide health care services to patients under the direction and responsibility of a Physician. Major / Essential Functions Provide inpatient care to a diverse patient population in accordance with department and clinical policies; Obtain detailed patient history and perform physical examinations on patients in the Permian Basin Behavioral Health Center; Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic procedures in accordance with the relevant health needs of the patient; Prescribe appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments; Maintain records and write orders and progress notes in patient charts regarding status, treatments, and procedures; Monitor and ensure accuracy of recording on patient medical records; Effectively communicate with physicians, residents, patients, and the family members of patients concerning patient care; Contribute to continuous improvement by meeting quality standards and patient experience metrics. Occasional Duties Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Graduation from a Physician Assistant’s training program approved by the Council on Allied Health Education Accreditation of the American Medical Association. Current Physician Assistant license in the State of Texas or ability to transfer license to Texas. Certification as a Physician Assistant as evidenced by passing the examinations given by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants. OR Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a nurse practitioner from an approved certification program recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing. Current RN license as approved by the Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer license to Texas. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner from an approved certification program as recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer certification to Texas. Visa Information TTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required. On a limited, case-by-case basis, the institution may also sponsor eligible individuals for change-of-status or change-of-employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.
