Position Type: Full-time 2nd Shift – training is on the 1st shift

Job Summary

The Machine Shop Helper supports daily manufacturing operations by assisting machinists, preparing raw materials, keeping work zones clean, and performing foundational shop tasks. This entry-level role is designed for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience and develop a career in machining and metal fabrication.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Shop Maintenance: Sweep, mop, organize tools to maintain a safe, tidy workspace

·         Material Handling: Load, unload, move raw materials or finished parts up to 50 lbs.

·         Machinist Assistance: Help set up / break down CNC machinery under supervision

·         Parts Finishing: Deburr, grind, clean, polish components to remove sharp edges

·         Fluid Maintenance: Check and replenish machine coolant and oil levels daily

·         Inventory Support: Monitor/restock shop consumables; rags, gloves, basic hardware

·         Quality Checks: Use tape measures or basic gauges to assist with simple part sorting

Qualifications and Requirements:

·         Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent

·         Math Skills: Ability to perform basic shop math and read assorted measuring tools

·         Communication: Capable to read, write, and follow precise instructions.

·         Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods in a loud industrial environment

·         Safety: Wearing required PPE and following all machine safety protocols

Preferred Skills (Not Required):

·         Prior experience using basic hand tools or working in a manufacturing setting

·         Familiarity reading basic blueprints or technical drawings

·         Experience using precision tools like calipers or micrometer
