Ranked among the top hospitals in New York State, Mercy offers a NYS designated Stroke Center, Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and has received Pathway to Excellence designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center – the only hospital in the region and one of only two in NY State to receive this prestigious award.Job DetailsResponsibilities:Demonstrates clinical competency in completion of assessments of the psychiatric and substance abuse patient that presents to the EDDemonstrates the ability to deal effectively with the agitated or combative patient(s)Works collaboratively with the psychiatric on-call staff to provide appropriate dispositioDemonstrates an understanding of psychotropic meds, their effect on patients presenting for care and the appropriate useCompletes all required documentation and legal papersEffectively communicates with Ed staff to promote timely movement of patientsReturns urgent phone calls within 15 minutes and provides appropriate follow-upReviews clinical information and accepts transfers in accordance with established guidelinesReviews medical information to detect significant treatment issuesMaintains collaborative relationship with referral sourcesCompletes all insurance precertification's within established time framesResponds to all liaison requests, providing assessment and referral and follow upEffectively uses an understanding of physiologic conditions when they present con currently with mental health issuesCompletes goals and assigned projects in a timely manner.Qualifications:Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferredExperience/skills: Experience in a patient care and/or Emergency Room or Psychiatric setting preferred; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to relate effectively to patients, families and staff;Current NYS RN license requiredBLS certification requiredSalary RangeUSD $58.43 - USD $58.43 /Hr.This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience.
