In the past few years, Woodcraft has expanded its menu of services beyond traditional afterschool programs and summer camps to include early learning, environmental and social justice, college access, and inclusion services for youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Additionally, we offer LifeCraft, a college and career advancement program to support the development of approximately 2,000 staff. Today, Woodcraft Rangers serves more than 30,000 youth ages 4 to 18 each year across 150 plus Title I schools in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Riverside counties, and continues to expand its reach. Ideal Candidate: Ideally, we are looking for someone who is detail oriented, energetic, ambitious, proactive, and positive, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Multi-tasking and attention to detail must be strengths this individual possesses. Individual needs to be comfortable to present and speak in front of staff and peers during in person training.

Working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners, the Senior Trainer ensures training experiences are engaging, relevant, and impactful, while contributing to Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) efforts across the organization. Responsibilities: Advanced Training Design & Development
- Design and develop high-quality, advanced training curriculum and materials that align with organizational goals and training priorities set by the Training Manager and Associate Director of Training.
- Create engaging professional development sessions and academies that deepen staff knowledge and skills beyond foundational training.
- Continuously review and refine training content to reflect current best practices in youth development, experiential learning, and adult learning theory.
- Contribute to the development of training tools, resources, and facilitation guides to support consistency across the training team.
- Lead engaging, high-impact training sessions for staff, both in-person and virtually.
- Serve as a lead facilitator for complex or high-priority trainings, including academies and train-the-trainer sessions.
- Model strong facilitation techniques and effective training practices for other team members.
- Ensure training experiences are interactive, inclusive, and aligned with experiential learning principles.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Trainer Associates to support their growth in facilitation, content development, and training delivery.
- Support the Training Manager in maintaining quality standards across the team by modeling best practices.
- Offer feedback and contribute to a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Collaborate with Programs, Student Support Services, Learning and Development staff, and internal stakeholders to identify training needs and ensure alignment with field practices.
- Support coordination of training logistics in partnership with the Training Manager and internal teams.
- Contribute to cross-functional projects and initiatives that strengthen training impact and program quality.
- Facilitate trainings for external stakeholders and partners as assigned, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and expectations.
- Support the adaptation of training content to meet specific partner or contract requirements (e.g., RFPs, district partnerships).
- Identify opportunities for collaboration with external partners to enhance training offerings, in alignment with team leadership.
- Support the implementation of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) practices by gathering feedback and identifying opportunities to enhance training effectiveness.
- Ensure training content and delivery meet organizational quality standards and compliance requirements.
- Participate in data collection efforts such as surveys and evaluations to inform improvements.
- Manage multiple training projects and assignments, ensuring timely completion and high-quality outcomes.
- Maintain organized systems for training materials, schedules, and deliverables.
- Support execution of large-scale training initiatives and events.
- Participate in ongoing staff development and training (approximately 40 hours annually).
- Stay current with trends and best practices in youth development, training, and facilitation.
- Model organizational values and contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture.
- Promote a “Kids First” approach by ensuring all training supports high-quality youth experiences.
Qualifications/Skills:
- AA Degree in Child Development or related field preferred, or equivalent experience (minimum one year working with youth and coursework in child development).
- Experience designing and facilitating trainings for adult learners.
- Strong understanding of experiential learning theory and youth development principles.
- Experience creating training materials, curriculum, or professional development content.
- Excellent presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Ability to mentor and support the development of peers.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel to various program regions (San Fernando Valley, South Los Angeles, West Los Angeles, San Gabriel Valley, Southeast LA, Downtown LA).
- Proficiency in digital tools (PowerPoint, Canva, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office Suite).
- Stable internet access.
- Valid LIVE Scan.
