Senior Python Engineer for Data Platform

I'm hiring a hands-on data engineer for a well-known, mission-driven organization in New York. Small team, real ownership. You design the data model, write the Python that feeds it, and build the Tableau layer people use to make decisions. Nobody else is doing that part for you.

What you'll build

• Python pipelines that pull from APIs, databases, and flat files into a SQL warehouse.
• Dimensional models (star schema, fact and dimension tables, slowly changing dimensions) that reporting can trust.
• Tableau dashboards and published data sources on top of those models.
• Automated tests, monitoring, and CI/CD so the whole thing runs without babysitting.
• The path from today's SQL Server environment to a modern cloud platform.

What you bring

• Python you'd be comfortable having another engineer review. Pipelines, automation, API integrations.
• Strong SQL. Window functions, query tuning, reading an execution plan. SQL Server experience is a plus.
• Real data modeling. You can name the grain of a fact table you built and defend it.
• Hands-on Tableau. You've built the dashboards yourself, not just the data behind them.
• Git and CI/CD as part of how you work.

Nice to have

Snowflake, Fabric, Databricks, Airflow, dbt, Azure Data Factory, or a legacy migration under your belt.
