Overview

Black & Veatch seeks a Principal Consultant and technical lead to deliver integrated resource management projects, focusing on market modeling through platforms such as PLEXOS and Encompass.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead high‑complexity consulting tasks in support of project delivery, including:
  • Integrated resource planning (IRP) support: scenario design, assumptions development, and documentation.
  • Energy market modeling execution using PLEXOS and EnCompass (production cost, capacity expansion, and portfolio studies).
  • Resource adequacy, reliability, and planning reserve margin assessments; evaluation of capacity accreditation and ELCC where applicable.
  • Portfolio optimization and investment planning analyses (generation, storage, transmission, demand‑side resources) with sensitivities on load, fuel, policy, and technology costs.
  • Model QA/QC, calibration, and results validation; develop repeatable workflows, templates, and clear client‑ready exhibits.
• Serve as a technical manager or director on strategy and planning projects, managing tasks, budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
• Provide technical subject‑matter expertise, apply best practices, and recommend innovative solutions to clients across all phases of an engagement.
• Provide thought leadership and be recognized as a company/industry expert through presentations, publications, conferences, and professional society committees.
• Lead client meetings and workshops, develop presentations, and communicate effectively with clients.
• Support business development activities, including developing scopes, schedules, and budgets.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience.
• Typically 10+ years of experience in a business or consulting environment.

Certifications

Certifications related to area of expertise, where applicable, preferred.

Work Environment / Physical Demands

BandV Office Environment or Client Site – Travel up to 100%.
