Description The Garden Center Merchandiser represents Costa Farms in retail garden centers, ensuring brand standards are upheld, products are displayed attractively, and customer experience is positive. This role is responsible for product care, display, replenishment, accurate inventory tracking, and maintaining the high merchandising standards of Costa Farms at store locations in Chicopee, West Springfield, Wilbraham, Westfield, MA, and Enfield, CT. Responsibilities Ensure Costa Farms and/or third‑party products are neatly displayed, fully stocked, and visually appealing at all times. Follow Costa Farms merchandising standards and planograms to maintain consistency across stores. Rotate inventory based on freshness and product lifecycle. Provide excellent customer service to stores and store personnel with professionalism, integrity, and decorum. Additional Responsibilities Availability for flexible schedule changes based on business needs, including seasonal demand and extra hours outside the regular schedule such as weekends, nights, and holidays. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to gather information or assist as required. Comply with safety standards while working in stores and enforce the same for other Costa Farms employees. Exhibit high levels of productivity and accuracy during merchandising activities. Energetically execute tasks directed by team members. Continuously seek opportunities to improve execution and productivity. Complete surveys and Go Spot Check missions correctly and promptly. Track and report inventory levels using designated systems. Arrive at assigned locations to meet with the team as needed and consistently complete the assigned schedule. Prepare stores for tours, meetings, and other events as required. Build and maintain strong, respectful relationships with store personnel. Ensure consumers are treated well by projecting a cheerful, helpful, and friendly persona. Perform additional duties as required. Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent. Previous retail, merchandising, or garden center experience preferred. Basic knowledge of plant care is a plus. Work‑authorized status; Costa Farms will not sponsor a visa for this position. Physical Demands Heavy Work: Exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Work Environment Position based in retail garden center locations such as The Home Depot; work outdoors or in semi‑covered environments, exposed to varying weather conditions (heat, humidity, rain, cold). Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing racks, and reaching; must be able to lift and move plant products or displays up to 50 lbs safely. Requires independent time management and ability to meet merchandising and operational expectations. A reliable mode of transportation is necessary, as team members may be assigned to multiple locations within a designated territory. Skills Ensures products are merchandised to Costa Farms' standards; displays are clean, organized, and consistently appealing. Prioritizes daily tasks and manages time across multiple locations. Communicates effectively with store associates, supervisors, and internal teams, reporting inventory updates, issues, or store needs promptly. Represents Costa Farms positively, engaging with staff and customers respectfully. Identifies and addresses issues (e.g., damaged product, inventory discrepancies) with minimal supervision. Adapts to changing conditions and adjusts priorities as needed. Works independently and collaboratively, fostering a culture of shared success and accountability. Performs physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, standing for long periods, and working outdoors in various weather conditions. Demonstrates dependability, punctuality, strong work ethic, and consistent attendance. Utilizes smartphones or tablets to submit reports, photos, and updates through company platforms (e.g., Teams).
