Position Overview

The Back of House Shift Leader at F’s Hawaiian Food is responsible for helping lead the kitchen during daily operations. This person supports food quality, speed, cleanliness, prep execution, food safety, and Team communication.

 

A BOH Shift Leader is not just a strong cook. They are someone who leads by example, protects the standards, helps train Team Members, and keeps the kitchen running smoothly during the shift.

This role is for someone who takes ownership, stays calm under pressure, follows systems, and helps create a strong Team culture built on respect, accountability, and pride in the food we serve.

 

Main Responsibilities

• Lead the back of house during assigned shifts
• Make sure food is prepared, cooked, portioned, and plated according to F’s standards
• Support grill, fry, prep, rice, expo, and dish areas as needed
• Keep the kitchen moving with urgency during rushes
• Make sure orders are accurate before they leave the kitchen
• Monitor food quality, presentation, freshness, and consistency
• Make sure prep is completed properly and on time
• Check that food is labeled, dated, stored, and rotated using FIFO
• Maintain food safety standards at all times
• Keep stations clean, stocked, and organized throughout the shift
• Support opening, shift change, and closing procedures
• Help train new Team Members on systems, cleanliness, and kitchen standards
• Communicate clearly with FOH, managers, and Team Members
• Help solve problems quickly and professionally
• Report food shortages, equipment issues, Team concerns, and quality problems to management
• Protect the culture of F’s Hawaiian Food by leading with respect, ownership, and teamwork

 

Food Quality Standards

The BOH Shift Leader is responsible for helping make sure every plate is served with pride. Food should be fresh, hot, properly portioned, correctly cooked, and presented neatly.

 

If food does not meet the standard, it should not be served.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to lift and carry food, supplies, and equipment as needed
• Ability to work around heat, fryers, grills, knives, and kitchen equipment
• Ability to bend, reach, clean, stock, and move quickly during service
• Ability to work safely in a busy kitchen environment

 

Schedule Expectations

• Must be available for assigned shifts, including opening, closing, weekends, and busy periods as needed
• Must be dependable and communicate schedule needs professionally
• Flexibility is preferred

 

Success in This Role Looks Like

A successful BOH Shift Leader helps the kitchen run clean, fast, organized, and consistent. The Team knows their roles, food comes out correctly, prep is completed, stations stay stocked, and problems are handled with ownership.

 

This person helps create a kitchen culture where Team Members work hard, communicate respectfully, follow standards, and take pride in serving great Hawaiian-style food to every Guest.
