The ACLU National Advocacy Institute is a week-long advocacy program held in Washington, D.C. at an American University, where you’ll join a dynamic community of high school students (15-18) from across the United States who care about justice, equality, and making a difference. For this advocacy program, you don’t need perfect grades or a polished resume, what matters most is your passion, curiosity, and commitment to creating real change. Throughout the week, you’ll have the opportunity to interact directly with ACLU lawyers, lobbyists, and activists, learning firsthand how to advocate effectively for the issues you care about. You’ll also build lifelong connections with peers, gain insider knowledge about advocacy in action, and leave with the tools to make an impact. Even better, completing this advocacy program makes you eligible to apply for the prestigious ACLU Scholarships for Emerging Advocates , which awards up to $40,000 toward your undergraduate studies. While the program isn’t free, the ACLU advocacy program is deeply committed to access, offering generous full and partial scholarships based on financial need, so cost doesn’t have to stand in your way.
