Life Insurance Agent

About the Role We’re looking for an insurance agent who is business‑mindful, communicative, authentic and coachable, with a strong desire to make a lasting financial impact on families and small businesses. As an agent at New York Life, you will provide peace of mind and guide clients through complex decisions such as retirement planning and college savings, while growing your career and earning a commission‑based income. Responsibilities Address existing and prospective customer requests in a prompt and friendly manner, including booking new meetings and responding to inquiries about billing, eligibility, coverage, claims and policies. Manage electronic and paper records, ensuring all contracting paperwork remains current. Evaluate new customers’ insurance needs, risk, existing coverage, long‑term goals and financial status through consultations to create a tailored experience that exceeds expectations. Grow new business by generating a prospective customer base and advertising our insurance products via networking, referrals, cold calling and other marketing strategies. Aid policyholders with the claims process while supervising the progress of current claims. Build and nurture long‑term relationships with clients, ensuring their financial needs are met with tailored insurance solutions. Educate clients on the benefits and features of various insurance products, empowering them to make informed decisions. Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve personal and team targets, driving business growth. Conduct comprehensive needs assessments to identify cross‑selling and upselling opportunities. Stay informed about industry trends and regulatory changes to provide clients with the most current and relevant advice. Collaborate with team members and participate in ongoing training to enhance your skills and knowledge base. Utilize digital tools and resources to streamline client interactions and improve service delivery efficiency. Qualifications Skilled with Microsoft Office. Client‑service experience as a sales representative is a plus. Prior health or life insurance experience is a bonus. High school diploma or GED required; a bachelor’s degree is a plus. Active Life & Health insurance license is a strong bonus. Experience in sales or customer service, with a focus on building and maintaining client relationships. Ability to identify client needs and tailor insurance solutions that align with their financial goals. Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in a competitive environment. Strong communication skills to effectively educate clients on insurance products and benefits. Proficiency in using digital tools and resources to enhance client interactions and streamline processes. Ability to develop and implement strategic sales plans to drive business growth. Experience in conducting comprehensive needs assessments to identify cross‑selling and upselling opportunities. Compensation and Benefits Commission‑based compensation with an average income of $120,555 for 2024 agents meeting performance requirements. The base salary range is $85,000–$121,000 per year. Eligible full‑time agents receive medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, as well as a 401(k) and pension plan. Training and development are subsidized for the first two full‑time contract years.
