Job Title: Quality Inspector Job Description
The Quality Inspector performs routine, highly repetitive inspection procedures to ensure consistent quality throughout various stages of electronic manufacturing production. This role focuses on visually inspecting printed circuit boards (PCBs), sub-assemblies, and higher-level assemblies (HLA) using microscopes, magnifiers, and other inspection tools, applying both lot sampling methods and 100% inspection as required. It is a detail-oriented position suited to individuals who enjoy precise, methodical work and can maintain focus while performing similar tasks for extended periods of time. Opportunities are available across multiple shifts in an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment, with initial orientation completed on day shift.
Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and repetitive visual inspection of PCBs, sub-assemblies, and HLA-level products using magnifiers, microscopes, cameras, and other vision systems to identify defects and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Apply appropriate inspection methods, including lot sampling and 100% inspection, in accordance with established procedures and quality requirements.
  • Handle PCBs carefully by turning, flipping, and angling them during inspection to ensure all areas are thoroughly examined.
  • Participate in root cause analysis activities to help identify the causes of quality issues and support corrective and preventive actions.
  • Enter standardized inspection and quality information into designated systems such as GSF and other applicable software, maintaining accurate documentation and records.
  • Use basic Excel and other computer applications to document inspection results, track data, and support quality reporting.
  • Supervise and maintain the work area in accordance with 5S standards, ensuring a clean, organized, and efficient workspace.
  • Keep supervisors informed of inspection findings, escalate quality issues when needed, and communicate clearly about potential risks or nonconformances.
  • Follow established quality assurance procedures and work instructions, maintaining compliance with company and customer standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all company and customer information encountered during inspection and documentation activities.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, managing daily inspection tasks and meeting productivity and accuracy expectations.
  • Use hand tools and light assembly techniques as needed to support testing, inspection, light assembly, machine operation, and packaging tasks related to quality control.
  • Perform repetitive computer-based tasks in different types of software to create, edit, and save quality-related documentation and records.
  • Adhere to all safety and personal protective equipment requirements while working in the electro-mechanical manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrate a great attitude, willingness to be flexible, and a desire to progress and build a long-term career in quality and manufacturing.
Essential Skills
  • Previous quality inspection experience in electronic manufacturing, particularly with PCB and electronic assembly, is strongly preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand how electro-mechanical products and assemblies fit and function.
  • High level of attention to detail and the ability to perform monotonous, highly repetitive tasks accurately over extended periods.
  • Ability to work under a microscope and with magnifiers for long periods, maintaining visual focus and precision.
  • Inspection skills and knowledge of PCBA (printed circuit board assembly) and HLA (higher-level assembly) product builds.
  • Advanced reading, writing, and math skills at approximately a 12th-grade level to interpret work instructions, specifications, and documentation.
  • Basic computer skills, including keyboard and mouse usage, opening and closing programs and files, and navigating software similar to internet browsers and basic programs.
  • Experience with basic Excel for documentation and familiarity with Outlook for communication and scheduling.
  • Familiarity with general office equipment and materials used in a manufacturing quality environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with supervisors, peers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting quality and productivity expectations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all company and customer information.
  • Capability to sit or stand for long periods of time during 10-hour shifts, with regular standing required.
  • Strong manual dexterity and fine motor control to handle delicate tools, components, and precise measurement equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities including acute near vision and visual acuity sufficient to work continually with inspection equipment, magnifiers, cameras, and computer monitors.
  • Ability to meet visual acuity requirements necessary for detailed inspection work.
  • Commitment to complete training and become certified for Quality Assurance within six months of obtaining the position, and to maintain QA certification to remain in the role.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in electronic assembly, production, and quality control environments is highly beneficial.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings related to electronic assemblies.
  • Experience using hand tools in a manufacturing or assembly setting.
  • Background in retail, food service, or other manufacturing fields can be successful if accompanied by strong attention to detail and comfort with repetitive work.
  • Comfort working in a structured, process-driven environment with established quality standards and procedures.
  • Familiarity with 5S or similar workplace organization and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to adapt to different shifts and schedules, including day, evening, and rotating 12-hour shifts.
  • Willingness to work overtime when needed to support production and quality demands.
  • Motivation to progress into advanced roles such as lead, supervisor, or management over time through strong performance and continued learning.
