Job Location: This position will be located at 912 Wildwood Dr., Jefferson City, MO. Why You’ll Love This Position The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, Division of Administration Division Liaison Services (DLS) has an immediate opening for an Intermediate Accountant. This position will be the lead for reporting analysis, reconciliation and fund reporting. The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay. What You’ll Do Work on assigned tasks related to the new State of Missouri Accounting system, evaluate processes and make changes as necessary to improve operations. Develop and maintain databases, spreadsheets, and other supporting data used to make decisions/recommendations for budget worksheets and various documents requested by Division and Department management. Ensure SAM II structure is designed to capture costs; process journal vouchers and budget updates as needed. Review and monitor budget loads to ensure payroll and other payments can be processed and that the information in SAM II enables appropriate fund reporting. Review and monitor expenditures, encumbrances and other obligations along with available authority each month, pay period or as needed. Assist with annual budget preparation and fiscal notes responses. Review and analyze expenditures on a continuous basis to ensure all funds are appropriately spent within an existing timeframe. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of relevant experience and/or appropriate certification. (Substitutions may be allowed.) Skill in applying varied acceptable and established accounting methods to resolve financial issues. Skill in interpreting statistical and financial statements, presenting financial reports and statements, and mentoring staff on these tasks. Ability to adapt to changing regulations and situations.
