Senior Data Visualization Developer

Salary: $93,000 - 133,000 per year Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Information Systems, or a closely related discipline
• 7+ years of experience building data visualizations in federal agencies or other compliance-focused environments
• Advanced expertise in at least three of the following tools: Tableau, Power BI, R (ggplot2, Shiny, R Markdown), Python (plotly, Dash, pandas, matplotlib), and D3.js, with working knowledge of the remaining platforms
• Background serving as technical lead for full-cycle visualization development, including requirements gathering, data preparation, design, build, review, accessibility testing, deployment, and documentation
• Experience presenting statistical information such as confidence intervals, weighted estimates, and suppression rules
• Proven ability to conduct Section 508 / WCAG 2.0 Level AA accessibility testing using automated tools such as axe or WAVE, plus manual screen reader testing with JAWS or NVDA
• Strong command of Git for code review and embedded documentation, along with SQL for analytics and visualization data needs
• Experience converting requirements between statisticians and developers into actionable specifications, including data models, query patterns, and annotated wireframes
• Experience administering and reporting through Adobe Analytics or a similar digital analytics platform
• Active Tier 4 / High Risk Public Trust clearance (Level 6+) at the time of proposal submission and eligibility for HSPD-12/PIV credentialing
• Current U.S. residency with the ability to overlap core working hours in Eastern Time
• Preferred: Masters degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Information Systems, or a related field
• Preferred: Experience with NCHS, CDC, or other federal statistical data environments
• Preferred: Experience applying machine learning techniques to analysis or visualization work
• Preferred: Familiarity with HHS EPLC or comparable federal project lifecycle methodologies

• Lead the technical delivery of NCHS visualization and solutions development across the full project lifecycle, from requirements collection through deployment and documentation
• Decide on the most appropriate visualization tools and frameworks, and build, maintain, and evolve a reusable component library for NCHS
• Create and support automated data validation scripts to help ensure statistical accuracy and suppression logic compliance
• Translate needs between statisticians and developers into implementable technical specifications, including data models, query logic, suppression rules, and annotated wireframes
• Plan and oversee Section 508/WCAG accessibility testing using both automated and manual screen reader methods in alignment with project management practices
• Advise on data architecture, assess technical risk, and contribute enterprise architecture artifacts such as process and data-flow diagrams
• Assist with Adobe Analytics administration and reporting when needed
• Work closely with Data Engineers and project managers to maintain compliance with federal statistical agency standards and protected data requirements
