Certified Nursing Assistant

The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for assisting nursing personnel in providing care to residents within the scope of certification and training. This position involves reporting to the RN on duty and the Director of Nursing. The associate is expected to actively participate in fulfilling the organization's Mission, Vision, and Values. Behavior consistent with the Core Values is essential. The role includes supporting goals and directions for quality improvement processes. Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, pushing over 100 lbs, pulling over 100 lbs, lifting, carrying, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and using equipment such as wheelchairs. Key responsibilities include providing all activities of daily living (ADL) care to patients, including oral care, grooming, hygiene, dressing, bathing, and ambulation. Care should be delivered according to each patient's individual care plan. It's important to provide care that respects residents' dignity and privacy, while encouraging independence and offering choices. Promptly answering call lights and communicating changes in patient conditions to nursing staff are crucial elements of the role. Accurate charting and documentation are required in accordance with policies and procedures. Collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to communicate resident preferences and needs is expected. Maintaining cleanliness of adaptive equipment and reporting any unsafe or non-working equipment is necessary. Using required safety equipment properly, such as gait belts and transfer boards, is essential for safe patient care.
