Teacher - Career and Technology Education (CTE) - Arts and AV - Graphic Design (High School)

Position Purpose Delivers rigorous instruction to students to promote intellectual, social, and physical growth. Provides standards‑based, data‑driven, differentiated instruction that engages students and creates a safe, supportive learning environment. Essential Job Functions Instructional Planning & Delivery Teaches knowledge and skill concepts in alignment with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills and district curricula. Designs clear, sequential lessons that build on students’ prior knowledge and incorporate enrichment, differentiation, and project‑based learning. Creates developmentally appropriate, standards‑driven lessons that reflect evidence‑based best practices. Adapts methods to meet the needs of diverse learners. Communicates clearly and engages students to encourage persistence and best efforts. Promotes higher‑order thinking by leading class discussions and activities. Assesses and documents student mastery using frequent, appropriate assessment tools. Instructs students on proper use and care of professional equipment, technology, and materials. Prepares students for industry certification exams and administers industry‑based certification exams to all students. Knowledge of Students & Student Learning Reinforces the belief that all students can achieve high levels and supports their social‑emotional learning and academic success. Analyzes background information to engage students in the learning process. Employs evidence‑based practices related to learning and social‑emotional development. Content Knowledge & Expertise Understands key concepts, multiple perspectives, and real‑world applications of grade‑level content. Designs and executes quality lessons aligned to state standards. Demonstrates content‑specific pedagogy and engages diverse learners with instructional materials. Learning Environment Creates a respectful, collaborative, and safe community of learners. Implements clear expectations for behavior and manages classroom effectively. Maintains appropriate classroom discipline and classroom management strategies. Selects and requisitions instructional supplies and equipment while maintaining inventory records. Data‑Driven Practice Implements formal and informal measurement of student progress. Set learning goals and communicate them to students and families. Collects, reviews, and analyzes data to inform instruction. Adjusts instructional strategies based on data. Administers industry certification exams in accordance with district policy. Professional Practices & Responsibilities Advise co‑curricular activities and involve students with professional associations. Ensure students understand future coursework requirements. Monitor classroom and online instruction, grades, and projects. Reflect on teaching practice and engage in continuous professional learning. Collaborate with colleagues and maintain self‑awareness in interactions. Model ethical behavior and maintain integrity. Keep current on state and industry standards and inform stakeholders. Shared Responsibilities Maintain accurate record‑keeping of attendance, grades, student files, and assessment preparation. Engage parents and families in student progress. Participate in faculty and committee meetings and school events. Verify and update student schedules and portfolios with counselors. Safety Maintain equipment in safe operating condition. Follow safety procedures for lifting, climbing, drills, and lockdowns. Report unsafe conditions promptly. Monitor student behavior in all settings. Personal Work Relationships Commit to the district’s mission, vision, and strategic goals. Exhibit professionalism, standards of conduct, and teamwork. Provide high‑quality customer service and cultural competence. Other Duties as Assigned Perform all job‑related duties as assigned in accordance with board rules and policies. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of federal, state, and district policies regarding education and students. Knowledge of current CTE teaching methods and pedagogy. Knowledge of assigned content facts and industry standards for licensure. Knowledge of data systems and action planning. Skill in lesson planning and facilitating professional learning. Ability to communicate effectively in writing and speaking. Ability to organize, coordinate, and maintain cooperative relationships. Travel Requirements Travel to school district buildings, professional meetings, and industry partnership locations as needed. Physical & Mental Demands Standard office equipment and instructional tools. Standing, stooping, bending, pushing/pulling, and repetitive hand motions. Frequent walking and occasional light lifting up to 35 pounds. Close vision required for tasks. May require irregular or prolonged hours. Minimum Required Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Major in Education or a related field preferred. Certification / License Valid Texas Teaching Certification in Technology Applications, Technology Education, or Trade and Industrial Education (with appropriate work experience). Alternative Certification Program acceptance and required prerequisite examinations. Other Certification Adobe Photoshop industry certification preferred. Adobe Illustrator industry certification preferred. Adobe After Effects industry certification preferred. Experience Audio‑visual industry experience preferred. Teaching experience preferred. Experience working with diverse student populations preferred. Additional Requirements Operate program‑specific equipment in a lab setting. Work in a standard classroom/lab building, lifting classroom tools and lab equipment.
