Job Overview and Responsibilities This position leads the Network Operations Center (NOC) Line Maintenance Planning Team in administering all routine and non‑routine planning functions for its fleet of 750+ modern aircraft while ensuring all required items are scheduled within their maintenance program limits. The Senior Manager reports directly to the Director of Line Maintenance Planning. Lead the Line Planning Team in effectively scheduling and executing United's aircraft maintenance programs Effectively schedule necessary routing requirements to manage workload to the available resources, avoiding adverse operational impact while maintaining airworthiness standards Manage and oversee United's Line Maintenance Planning’s operation, including the management and coordination of departmental resources, daily available maintenance labor, facilities, materials, tooling, and aircraft availability Implement corporate policies and procedures to ensure airworthiness, including compliance with time‑controlled inspections, components, engineering directives, deferred log pages, and the MEL Coordinate government, airframe manufacturer, or company‑directed programs, focusing on reliability, cost, and daily operational performance Develop and foster positive cross‑departmental relationships; maintain open communication with planning teams, maintenance stations, maintenance control, engineering, and other project management groups Coordinate maintenance planning activities with the Senior Manager, Line Maintenance Field Planning Manage departmental IT solutions and enhancements for productivity and reliability improvements Create and achieve company objectives (KPIs) and interdepartmental goals related to fleet reliability, cost, productivity, customer service, and team metrics, leveraging analytical skills for long‑term plans in day‑to‑day operations Initiate, track, and investigate short‑term escalation and MEL extensions Create, update, and maintain departmental GMM manuals, ensuring all processes are adhered to and overseeing training Provide subject matter expertise in cross‑departmental projects, initiatives, or inquiries Engage and participate with teams such as Aircraft Records, Engineering, Supply Chain, publications, maintenance programs, regulatory and task implementation on changes to fleet maintenance programs Manage and develop the team by communicating job expectations, monitoring performance, effectively coaching, and rewarding results Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of relevant work experience Bachelor’s degree in aviation technology/engineering or management and/or FAA Airframe and Powerplant License 7 years of aircraft maintenance industry experience, including 5 years in a leadership role Strong background and in‑depth knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations pertaining to maintenance programs and procedures, aircraft maintenance systems, and aircraft routing Demonstrated strong knowledge and understanding of aircraft maintenance planning processes Strong people and time management skills; strong relationship and collaboration skills Proven organization and leadership skills with the ability to lead and maintain productive teams and working relationships Capable of guiding teams through continuous improvement initiatives Detail‑oriented, proactive self‑starter with a positive, willing attitude and excellent oral and written communication skills Initiative to continually improve team performance and work processes through feedback, problem‑solving, and idea generation while driving root‑cause corrective action for behavioral and operational issues Strong presentation skills and ability to present to multi‑level audiences Ability to delegate tasks and projects effectively Proficient in Microsoft Suite applications Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position Growth Behaviors Externally focused: Understands upstream and downstream implications of work; tracks and shares external trends, best practices, or ideas Performance driven and accountable: Maintains high‑performance standards, outperforms peers Fast/Agile: Removes barriers to move faster; experiments and adapts; thrives under pressure and fast‑paced environments Smart risk: Makes data‑driven bold decisions/recommendations using sound judgment Empowered: Brings solutions instead of problems; challenges status quo and has courage to take unpopular stance Growth mindset: Demonstrates curiosity; welcomes failure as learning opportunity Preferred Qualifications Green Belt certification in Lean or Six Sigma Project Management certification 5 years of maintenance planning experience 7 years in an aircraft maintenance leadership role Technical knowledge and understanding of United's maintenance platforms and programs Knowledge of Sceptre Knowledge of maintenance planning software digital tools Ability to perform data analysis of large datasets using Foundry or other digital analytical tools Up to 25% travel required for training and mandatory meetings Equal Opportunity Employer The University of Missouri System is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
