Position Purpose The purpose of the Vetco Operations Leader is to provide daily leadership to their team and hub. The Vetco Operations Leader partners with retail store colleagues to ensure an efficient and profitable operation by creating a culture of high‑quality patient care and exceptional customer service, while driving revenue and managing costs. The Vetco Operations Leader represents the mission and values of Petco to all partners and guests, coordinates hub operations in partnership with store support resources, and fosters a cohesive and motivated team environment. Essential Job Functions The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following. The Vetco Operations Leader must be able to perform all duties with or without reasonable accommodation. Oversees daily operation and manages all aspects of the business to meet sales and profitability projections. Completes and submits accounting, inventory management, and payroll paperwork accurately and timely. Ensures all expenses are maintained within budgeted levels. Establishes and sustains an environment of proactive customer engagement, understanding customer needs and educating them on the best choice for their pets; trains, coaches, and supports partners to do the same. Leads Vetco paraprofessionals to drive operational excellence and maintains productive relationships with veterinarians to foster a positive culture and cohesive team. Serves as point person for day-to-day hub functions including scheduling, equipment function and maintenance, fleet maintenance, inventory control and ordering, scheduling with partners and DVMs, team training, and handling client concerns. Creates a culture that fosters growth and development, including coaching, training, and accountability of paraprofessional partners in partnership with TVM, Vet Services Support, and HRBP. Maintains staffing levels through recruiting, interviewing, background checks, hiring, and training to support the business. Assumes scheduling responsibilities for paraprofessional partners and maintains hub partner points per Petco punctuality and attendance policy. Develops quarterly, monthly, and weekly plans with the TVM, tracks results, and ensures goal attainment. Collaborates with Petco store partners and local VTCH teams to drive a seamless partnership and customer experience. Maintains OSHA standards and upholds Petco policies. Identifies business trends to support growth and mitigate clinic cancellations. Manages tasks related to veterinarian selection and scheduling in advance of clinics in partnership with Vet Services Support. Partners with VTCH location management and Petco field leadership to identify opportunities and lead or assist in implementation. Participates in and presents material on clinics to store leadership partners. Operates a motor vehicle and transports product, equipment, and partners to clinics. Other Duties And Responsibilities Patient care always comes first. Resolve guest or hub partner issues promptly when they arise. Demonstrate exceptional teamwork and commitment to shared goals across Petco. Collaborate with store support resources, store personnel, and VTCH Team to maintain a positive culture and cohesive team environment. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned. Nature Of Supervision The incumbent reports to the Territory Vetco Manager. Planning And Problem Solving The Vetco Operations Leader must have strong planning skills to schedule hub paraprofessional partners to ensure adequate coverage while managing payroll costs. This role ensures efficient day-to-day hub operations and an optimal experience for partners and guests. It supports a cohesive, well-trained, and motivated team, with the goal of partner retention, patient well-being, and customer satisfaction. Supervisory Responsibility Direct supervision of multiple roles within the HUB(s) (Clinic Advisors, Vet Assistants, and Clinic Leads), including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, mentoring, and coordinating with store support resources and HR on discipline up to termination. Minimum Requirements 1+ years in a leadership role, including direct customer service experience. Previous experience in the veterinary field is beneficial (not required). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to make decisions, delegate tasks, and drive results with hub partners. Compassionate and professional demeanor in emotional or stressful situations. Telephone etiquette and basic computer skills. Team player with willingness to learn, offer ideas, and adapt to change. Drive for results — ownership and accountability to achieve business results. Current, valid Driver’s License and ability to operate a motor vehicle. Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office). Work Environment The majority of duties are conducted in the hub and within PCC. The role requires sitting, bending, kneeling, lifting up to 50 pounds, and standing for long periods. A large portion of time is spent in direct contact with clients and their pets. Contacts This position regularly communicates with clients, veterinarians, store partners, store support partners, and external vendors.
