Under the direction of the branch Sales Manager and Director of Composites, the Product Specialist is responsible for accelerating growth of assigned specialty building product categories across the dealer network by driving dealer readiness, market development, customer engagement, and product expertise within an assigned territory. Working alongside Account Executives, Territory Sales Representatives, Inside Sales, and manufacturer partners, this role equips customers with the knowledge, merchandising, and resources needed to successfully sell and specify assigned product categories. The Product Specialist serves as the subject matter expert for their assigned product category, providing technical guidance, product education, contractor engagement, specification support, and market intelligence. This position helps create demand, strengthen customer relationships, increase product adoption, and support profitable sales growth, while complementing the Account Executive's customer ownership.

Essential duties and responsibilities include serving as the subject matter expert for assigned specialty building product categories, partnering with Account Executives to develop and execute territory growth strategies, conducting product training for dealer personnel, performing dealer readiness assessments, conducting product demonstrations, supporting contractor recruitment, promoting assigned product categories, assisting customers with product selection, representing the company at trade shows, monitoring competitive products, maintaining accurate records of customer interactions, and collaborating with internal sales teams.

Required skills include strong business acumen, technical aptitude, consultative selling, presentation, and training skills, excellent communication skills, self-motivation, analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to read and interpret technical documents, proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems, ability to travel throughout the assigned territory, and ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.

Required education and experience include a bachelor's degree in sales or a related field, and 5 to 7 years of relevant sales and industry experience.

Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, seeing, talking, hearing, lifting files, opening filing cabinets, bending, standing on a stool, lifting up to 50 pounds, team lifting up to 100 pounds, bending, reaching, climbing tall ladders and stairs.

Resources provided by employee include valid state driver's license, reliable personal vehicle, and auto insurance coverage at the following minimum levels: bodily injury, property damage, collision, and comprehensive.

Work environment includes professional office environment, lumber yard, and retail warehouse environment, use of standard office equipment, travel throughout the assigned territory at least 75% of the time.

Dress code includes wearing clothing appropriate for the nature of OrePac business and the type of work being performed, neat, clean, and tasteful.

Safety duties and responsibilities include reporting incidents and accidents, maintaining the work area in a safe and healthful condition, reporting and correcting unsafe working conditions, operating vehicles safely, providing assistance to reduce or eliminate workplace hazards, complying with company drug testing policies, and complying with company Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policies.
