Computed Tomography Technologist - Travel Job

Become a vital part of the care team as an experienced Computed Tomography Technologist in Petersburg, VA. You will perform CT imaging examinations, administer intravenous contrast per hospital guidelines, operate and maintain CT equipment, and deliver quality patient care across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings. This role requires independent functioning in a fast-paced emergency department environment and adherence to radiation safety and documentation standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current ARRT registration required. ARRT-CT registration preferred.
• Current state Radiology/CT license for Virginia required.
• Current BLS certification required. ACLS preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of CT experience required. 2 years of radiology experience preferred.
• Required experience operating GE Revolution Ascend 64-slice scanner or equivalent GE and Philips CT systems.
• Experience in inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department CT environments required.
• Competency in IV starts and point-of-care creatinine testing (i-STAT) required.
• Proficiency with PACS and EPIC preferred.
• Ability to work independently, manage high volume (40-45 cases per shift typical), and function in a fast-paced ED setting.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• ARRT-CT certification preferred.
• Prior experience with high-volume CT workload and multi-step procedural workflows preferred.
• ACLS certification preferred.

Assignment Details

• Weekend schedule: Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
• Weekend shift hours: 8:00 AM-8:30 PM.
• Will work inpatient, outpatient, and emergency room patients.
• May be asked to cover at other facilities within the market; ability to float is required.
• No local candidates; must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility.

Impacting Patient Care


Under the supervision of a radiologist or physician, you will perform CT procedures, maintain equipment and quality control logs, ensure radiation safety in accordance with state and Joint Commission requirements, and provide patient education. You will participate in departmental meetings and may assist in training students or trainees. The role requires adherence to ethical standards and departmental policies while contributing to high-quality patient care.
