First Southern Bank is looking for a Mortgage Lending Manager to join our team! The Mortgage Lending Manager’s responsibilities include providing leadership and supervision for the Mortgage department, overseeing operations from origination through closing, and implementing and administering policies and procedures to ensure efficiency, profitability, and compliance. Also supports borrowers by guiding them through applications, evaluating financial information, and helping them choose appropriate loan products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and guidance to the Mortgage team members by understanding their role and ensuring all team members are adequately trained and resourced
• Develop and monitor performance standards to ensure department profitability and efficiency goals are met
• Lead the collaborative approach to delivering new mortgage business objectives for the bank
• Make recommendations regarding loan products that best meet the borrower’s needs
• Keep informed of all origination, processing, appraisal, underwriting and closing requirements for both bank and investor guidelines pertaining to both government and privately insured mortgagors
• Build a supportive referral network with internal lending staff, realtors, homebuilders, etc.
• Participate in networking through professional, business and community organizations and activities to promote and market bank products & services
• Maintain current knowledge of all federal and state laws and regulations, along with the Bank’s policies and procedures
• Maintain the highest level of confidentiality related to the bank, customers, board members and bank associates’ information

 

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field or equivalent experience
• 7+ years’ experience in mortgage lending; proven experience in a manager role, demonstrating leadership and decision-making capabilities
• NMLS license required
• Track record of successfully originating various kinds of mortgage loans, including FHA loans and VA loans
• Ability to self-motivate – internal drive to achieve, produce, and develop
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; effectively and directly both verbally and in writing
• Proven ability to prioritize competing demands
• Ability to operate in a team environment to accomplish shared goals
