Elwood Staffing is seeking a purchasing agent for a local custom woodworking shop in Fort Collins.

Purchasing Agent Details:
- Temp-to-Hire position
- $28.00 to $35.00 / hour
- Full Time work available
- First Shift ( Monday through Friday )
- Issue and manage purchase orders for raw materials, shop supplies, resale products, and general business needs
- Manage inventory levels and reorder supplies to ensure continuous availability
- Communicate with multiple vendors to confirm pricing, availability, and delivery timelines
- Track open POs and follow up with vendors to resolve delays or discrepancies
- Evaluate vendor performance and support cost-saving initiatives
- Maintain updated records of purchasing activity, pricing, and vendor contacts
- Work closely with warehouse teams to coordinate receiving and stocking of purchased materials
- Identify and correct discrepancies between POs and vendor invoices
- Maintain digital and physical filing systems for purchase orders and vendor records
- Collaborate with accounting staff to resolve billing or invoicing discrepancies
- Prepare purchasing reports for management review as requested
- Assist with product setup and pricing updates in the inventory system
- Support safety stock levels and ensure materials critical to operations are proactively sourced
- Assist with coordinating deliveries and communicating backorders or delays to stakeholders
Purchasing Agent Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a purchasing assistant role or similar administrative capacity
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and managing purchase orders
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external vendors
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Previous experience as a Purchasing Manager, Purchasing Specialist, or Buyer
- Familiarity with inventory management systems
- Previous experience with lumber and/or construction
