Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner)

Duties

Conduct collaborative care assessments, diagnosis and management of patients in inpatient and outpatient settings.

Order laboratory and diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and initiate emergency care.

Communicate patient management strategies to members of the patient care team.

Collaborate with physicians regarding patient management including revising therapeutic plans and managing high-risk patients.

Evaluate care delivery models and strategies using concepts related to community, environmental/occupational health, and cultural and socioeconomic dissensions of health.

Participate in conferences, trainings, and workshops in order to share and obtain new methodology which facilitates advancement in the healthcare profession.

Serve as a preceptor to graduate students enrolled in nurse practitioner and physician assistant programs, medical students, and to newly assigned nurse practitioners.
