Pharmacy Technician in Troy, MI

This contract opportunity offers a dynamic role as a Pharmacy Technician specializing in sterile compounding within a compounding pharmacy environment. Operating in a USP 797/800 cleanroom suite, the technician will play a critical role in aseptic compounding while upholding rigorous regulatory standards. The position works Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 6 PM, providing stable daytime hours with the potential for direct hire.


Key Responsibilities:

• Perform sterile compounding following validated aseptic techniques aligned with USP 797, 800, and state/federal regulations, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
• Maintain ISO-classified cleanroom conditions through routine cleaning, sanitization, and environmental monitoring.
• Handle production tasks such as equipment setup, labeling, calculations, filtration, and accurate documentation.
• Support production workflows by preparing batches, staging materials, and collaborating effectively with pharmacists and supervisors.
• Engage in continuous improvement activities including root cause analysis and waste reduction to optimize efficiency.
• Conduct quality assurance tasks including visual inspection, sample handling, cleaning validations, and inventory rotation (FIFO).
• Follow strict garbing and gowning protocols and maintain cleanroom behavioral standards to protect product sterility.
• Communicate proactively with team members regarding workload, equipment status, and procedural enhancements fostering a cooperative work environment.

Qualifications:

• Prior experience as a sterile compounding pharmacy technician.
• Strong knowledge of sterile techniques, aseptic behavior, and cleanroom operations.
• Ability to interpret detailed procedures, compounding formulas, and batch records accurately.
• Proficient in basic math calculations and precision-driven tasks.
• Comfortable wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as masks, gowns, gloves, and sterile garb throughout shifts.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated ownership and accountability for quality and compliance.
• Valid Michigan pharmacy technician license.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential or willingness to obtain within the specified timeframe.
