Accounting Specialist (Contract-to-Hire Potential)

Location: Syracuse, NY (Onsite)

Pay: $25-$40/hour DOE

Duration: Approximately 6 Months

Potential Conversion: Opportunity for permanent hire based on business needs and performance (no guarantees). Estimated permanent salary range: $60,000-$85,000.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our team on a 6-month contract basis. This role will provide support across accounting and finance functions while helping alleviate workload across the department.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly sales tax filings for 25+ states.
• Download and compile reports for sales tax, commissions, and client reporting.
• Review employee travel and expense (T&E) submissions for policy compliance.
• Prepare weekly accounts receivable reports for the CFO.
• Process accounts payable invoices, including coding and research as needed.
• Generate weekly and ad hoc financial reports.
• Provide general accounting and administrative support to the finance team.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
• 2+ years of accounting experience preferred; strong junior-level candidates will be considered.
• Experience with AP, AR, reporting, and reconciliations is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Self-motivated, dependable, and able to take ownership of assigned work.
• Stable work history preferred (contract-based transitions are understandable).
