Job Summary

Perception Engineer means Develops software and algorithms that help robots/autonomous systems understand their surroundings using LiDAR, cameras, radar, and sensor fusion.

STAFFXPERT is seeking a highly experienced Perception Engineer with strong expertise in C++ and robotics perception systems . The ideal candidate will lead the design, development, integration, and deployment of advanced perception algorithms for robotics platforms using LiDAR, radar, cameras, and sensor fusion .

This role requires strong hands-on development experience in production-grade, multithreaded C++ applications on Linux , along with expertise in robotics, real-time processing, and machine learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of perception algorithms for LiDAR, radar, camera, and sensor fusion applications.

• Architect real-time C++ processing pipelines for object detection, classification, tracking, and sensor fusion.

• Develop production-grade, multithreaded applications in C++ on Linux .

• Define sensor selection criteria, integration standards, and validation processes.

• Troubleshoot complex perception issues through root-cause analysis and algorithm refinement.

• Collaborate with planning, controls, and systems engineering teams to integrate perception outputs into autonomy systems.

• Deploy and configure perception systems at customer sites and provide technical leadership during integration.

• Conduct code reviews and mentor junior Perception Engineers.

• Document system architecture, algorithm design decisions, and technical lessons learned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics , or related field. Master's degree preferred.

• 10+ years of overall experience preferred.

• Strong hands-on expertise in C++11 or newer .

• Production experience developing multithreaded Linux applications .

• Professional experience developing perception systems for robotics, industrial automation, autonomous/intelligent vehicles , or similar platforms.

• Strong experience in at least two of the following:

  • LiDAR point-cloud processing

  • Radar processing

  • Camera/image processing and object recognition

  • Sensor fusion and object tracking

• Experience with ROS or ROS2 .

• Experience with DDS or publish/subscribe messaging architectures .

• Strong understanding of Machine Learning / AI techniques used in embedded C++ environments.

• Proficiency in Python 3 or MATLAB for prototyping and analysis.

• Strong knowledge of linear algebra, probabilistic estimation, and coordinate transformations .

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with real-time perception systems for autonomous robotics or intelligent vehicles.

• Experience integrating multiple sensors in embedded environments.

• Experience with customer-site deployment and system integration.

• Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives.
