The Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for planning, directing and provision of nursing care to patients in accordance with the NH Nurse Practice Act, recognized nursing techniques, and the Endoscopy Units and both clinical and administrative responsibilities.SPECIFIC ELEMENTS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Endoscopy RN demonstrates time management skills, independent critical thinking, nursing assessments and technical skills required to care for the specific patient population of the unit. This includes admission, phase II recovery, and discharge of patients as well as assisting physician with any procedure performed within the unit. All RNs must be proficient in IV insertion (with exception of pre-admission nurses).Position Details:Self/preferential scheduling posted four weeks in advance for you to have predictability in your scheduleCulture of mutual respect and collaboration among all surgical staffContinuous investment in equipment including surgical instruments, devices and patient positioning for you to do your best work with patient safety and workflow efficiency in the Operating RoomRounding with unit leaders, including charge nurses, to ensure your voice is heard on suggestions for patient care and surgical workflow improvementOn-call is required during select non-business hoursWhat you will do in this role:Evaluate patients prior to surgeryProvide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative processAssume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verificationParticipate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols, according to hospital policyRecognize and respond to patient emergenciesDeliver high-quality, patient-centered care while managing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiativesBe an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team – consisting of the provider(s), surgeons, surgical technologists and moreConsistently apply the nursing process, critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, technical skills and leadership to independently deliver safe nursing care to patientsAssess patient condition, monitor throughout your shift, and document changes in patient condition along with the care provided thoroughlyEducate patients and families/caregivers about the patient's medical condition, treatment and follow-up measuresWhat qualifications you will need:Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start dateBasic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date(RN) Registered Nurse state of NH or valid compact stateAssociate Degree in Nursing1-3 years related experienceBenefitsPortsmouth Regional Hospital, offers a total rewards package that supports the health, life, career and retirement of our colleagues.
