Job Overview The New Jersey Judiciary – Essex Vicinage is seeking a self‑motivated individual who will be assigned to court to review trial or other calendars for completeness or accuracy; type warrants, contracts or other legal documents; notify counsel of dates or times of scheduled proceedings; complete subpoenas, writs, or other related legal documents; operate court smart recording system and video system in the courtroom; answer inquiries from the public, clients, customers, complainants, co‑workers, subordinates or supervisors; modify (update) records or case‑related information; verify records for accuracy, completeness or conformity; schedule dates or times for conferences, hearings, trials, adjournments or "back‑up" cases; explain judiciary policies or procedures to clients or customers; monitor the operation of the court for efficiency of operations; issue legal writs or other legal documents; provide data entry support; file bail or extradition papers; provide customer service to clients, attorneys and the public; review case status with judges or division managers; order prisoners from state institutions/county jails; moderate virtual court sessions using the Zoom and/or Microsoft Teams platforms; perform other duties as required. On‑site duties required. Remote Work The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, in addition to installing a multifactor authentication app on a phone or tablet, you will be required to have high‑speed home internet access. Salary Schedule A: $45,877.84 to $69,484.11 Schedule B: $45,877.84 to $62,203.88 Eligibility & Requirements Experience Requirement: One year of experience in an office environment performing a variety of clerical and support services, including keyboarding and one or more of the following: document or information processing; handling payments for fees; recording monies received; reconciling balances or accounts; and/or scheduling meetings or appointments. Physical Ability: Ability to perform work requiring climbing and prolonged standing, stretching, bending and reaching. Must be able to frequently lift and carry supplies weighing 30–50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds. Driver's License: Required only if operation of a vehicle is necessary for duties. Authorization to Work: US citizenship not required. Must be authorized to work in the US per DHS/USCIS regulations. Background Check: Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that includes fingerprinting. All data will be kept in strict confidence except to inform the individual of findings and subsequent actions. Residency Law: New hires within one year must establish and maintain a principal residence in New Jersey, subject to exemption by the Employee Residency Review Committee.
