Description The Sleep Epidemiology Research Group seeks a temporary Sleep Data Specialist to support the actigraphy scoring center within the Emory Sleep Reading Center. The incumbent will be responsible for processing and scoring objective sleep data from wearable devices, developing and maintaining data collection protocols, training study teams in sleep data collection procedures, and supporting the group's research activities. This role is central to ensuring the quality, consistency, and integrity of sleep data across multiple studies. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Under general supervision, performs a variety of defined research and laboratory tests and procedures according to prescribed protocols and assigned schedules. Sets up experiments as prescribed by a principal investigator. Maintains, sterilizes and cleans equipment and supplies. Prepares and disposes of media. Orders supplies and maintains designated inventory levels. Reviews literature for related research developments and techniques and compiles findings. Maintains records, files and logs of work performed; compiles data and records results of studies. Performs related responsibilities as required. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Process, clean, and score raw sleep and rest-activity data collected from actigraphy devices and other sleep wearables, following established scoring conventions and quality-control standards. Serve as a subject-matter resource on sleep wearable devices, including device setup, data download, troubleshooting, and best practices for use in research settings. Develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures and protocols for sleep data collection, device handling, scoring, and data management. Train and provide ongoing support to internal and external study teams on sleep data collection procedures to ensure protocol fidelity across sites and studies. Support field and study data collection activities, including device distribution, participant instruction, and monitoring of incoming data. Manage sleep datasets: organize, track, and maintain data files; monitor data completeness and quality; flag and resolve discrepancies; and prepare scored data for analysis. Maintain accurate records and documentation to support reproducibility, auditing, and regulatory compliance. Support broader research activities as needed, including data summaries, reporting, and coordination with study staff and collaborators. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree in a scientific field. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: MPH with a concentration in Epidemiology Experience with statistical analyses using SAS Prior work experience (1+ years) on CDC, NIH, or other major donor research project or program Excellent verbal and especially written communication skills demonstrated through contribution to a manuscript or report or draft thesis Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented Experience with data entry, quality checking, and/or managing datasets NOTE: Position tasksaregenerallyrequired tobe performed in-person at an Emory University location.Remote workfrom homedayoptions may be grantedatdepartmentdiscretion.Emory reserves the right to changeremote workstatus with notice toemployee.
