Bereavement Coordinator

The Bereavement Coordinator is responsible in planning, implementing and maintaining a bereavement program to meet the needs of families/caregivers from Bristol Hospice for up to one (1) year following the death of the individual hospice patient

An Average Day:
(Includes, but not limited to)

• Coordinate the assessment and delivery of grief counseling needs and services (one- on-one, groups, and ongoing follow-up) to ensure timely and appropriate services are provided to family/caregivers
• Plan for Bereavement Program development, expansion and refinement through annual evaluation of services
• Provide bereavement support to hospice personnel coping with work related grief through one-on-one counseling, supervision of interns providing one-on-one counseling, and referral to community resources
• Provide bereavement information and referral services to callers from the community
• Expand and maintain community resource list, as needed
• Assist as needed in evaluating and planning services to meet hospice personnel support needs (i.e., yearly retreats, weekly support groups)
• Function independently but seeks and accepts guidance from other members of the interdisciplinary group, or from members of the community
• Participate in hospice activities such as in-service education, hospice personnel meetings and relevant committees
• Advance professional knowledge and skills
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Must possess a bachelor's degree or equivalent specialized experience or theological degree from a college or university - OR - master's degree in social work with qualifications of experienced clinical grief counseling
• Must have experience with families/caregivers and patients through death/dying issues
