Job Description
Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking dedicated and experienced Stepdown Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our team. This position involves providing high-quality care for patients in a stepdown unit, monitoring their condition, and assisting with post-operative care.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients in the stepdown unit.
Monitor patient vital signs and clinical status, documenting changes and interventions appropriately.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the healthcare team.
Assist in performing diagnostic tests and procedures, as needed.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members regarding care plans and patient progress.
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care and treatment strategies.
Ensure adherence to safety standards and infection control protocols.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 12 months of permanent experience in the stepdown specialty.
Current Ohio nursing license or compact state license in hand.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) required.
Ability to float to other units (if needed) to care for similar patient populations.
Complete ECG rhythm recognition test and safeMedicate assessment during orientation with acceptable scores on both assessments.

Work Schedule:

This position requires a rotating shift schedule, including both day and night shifts (3x12-hour shifts). Travelers must be willing to work at least every other holiday. While we will make every effort to honor preferred shifts, changes may be made to meet operational needs.
