Registered Nurse (RN) Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4 pm with flexibility to meet program needs. Work life balance, no holidays and no weekends!
A Day in the Life of a Registered Nurse (RN) at The Arc Wayne:
- Performs nursing duties within the NYSED Licensed Registered Nurse scope of practice.
- Assesses health related needs of individuals. Coordinates with health care providers, service providers, clinical and program staff to meet individual's health related needs.
- Functions as a member of individual's program planning team to ensure all medical/clinical and dietary needs are identified and provided for in each individual service plan. Responsible for creating and updating Plans of Nursing Service (PONS) for each assigned individual.
- Ensures that all medical/health concerns, treatments and recommendations are properly documented and follow-up is completed.
- Interprets medical tests screening and diagnosis to staff and team members.
- Participates in admission planning to insure that all health related needs, treatment and referrals to other providers are met.
- Performs transfer/discharge planning with programs/hospitals or agencies to ensure health related needs are met.
- Performs admission and semi-annual review of medications. Monitors effects of medications and reports to health care providers as necessary. Ensures medications are ordered and renewed as necessary.
- Evaluates individuals for self-administration of medication status and monitors the self-administration of medication programs.
- Coordinates medical and clinical appointments, monitors outcomes and all necessary follow-up and documentation.
- Reviews medication errors and makes recommendations as indicated to appropriate management staff.
- May provide direct and/or clinical supervision to assigned LPN's as directed by Nursing Administrator.
- Provides health related and dietary education to individuals.
- Provides staff education and certification in health related areas to include but not limited to; general medical overview, medication administration certification, and diabetic certification.
- Assists with TB testing and monitoring of staff.
- Maintains confidentiality and respect for all students, their family members, and RCC co-workers. Maintains appropriate professional and personal boundaries including on social media.
Who We Are Looking For:
- Current valid NYS licensed Registered Nurse.
- Must possess a current, valid New York State driver's license that meets the Agency driver standards.
