Work Environment
The role is situated onsite within a well-equipped hospital facility, fostering a collaborative environment with other healthcare professionals. Our hospital provides state-of-the-art resources and the latest technology, enabling our PTAs and therapists to deliver cutting-edge therapeutic interventions. The working hours are typically Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM, allowing for a balanced work-life schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Physical Therapists to assist in the implementation of individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs.
- Guide patients through designated therapeutic exercises, stretches, and functional activities, ensuring correct techniques to produce optimal results.
- Administer various modalities, including ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and heat/cold therapy, to enhance recovery.
- Regularly monitor and document patient progress using electronic health records (EHR), promptly updating the supervising PT about any observed changes or concerns.
- Educate patients on effective injury prevention strategies and develop home exercise programs to reinforce therapy gains.
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations when handling clinical records and patient information.
- Contribute to a multi-disciplinary healthcare team dynamic by engaging in regular meetings to discuss patient care strategies and enhance collaboration.
Patient Population / Client Focus
In this role, you will primarily focus on an outpatient orthopedic patient population consisting of individuals recovering from a variety of conditions, including sports injuries, postoperative rehabilitation, and chronic pain management. Your empathetic approach and tailored rehabilitation strategies will be essential in fostering a positive therapeutic relationship, ultimately guiding patients toward their recovery goals.
Qualifications
- Active Physical Therapist Assistant license in the state of New Jersey.
- A Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy or a related field.
- Strong foundational knowledge and skills in therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and patient education.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong patient-focused approach.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and commitment to maintaining accurate documentation.
Preferred Experience
- At least 2 years of experience in outpatient orthopedic settings is preferred, although new graduates with clinical rotations should also apply.
- A proven ability to use a variety of therapeutic modalities effectively.
- An understanding of the latest rehabilitation techniques and evidence-based practices in physical therapy.
