Associate Regional Director (FULL-TIME) - North Star Region (Twin Cities, MN)

Associate Regional Director – Full‑time The Young Life North Star Region is prayerfully seeking a full‑time Associate Regional Director to join our regional leadership team. This role will supervise 6‑7 diverse areas and/or area start‑ups in the Greater Twin Cities area, which currently include active ministries of Young Life (high school), WyldLife (middle school), and Capernaum (kids with disabilities). The primary focus of the North Star Region’s "Known Deeply" vision centers around the personal/professional/spiritual development of Area Directors, retention of current staff, and identification of emerging leaders in order to grow ministry effectiveness. The ideal candidate models servant leadership, is deeply committed to their faith, and is passionate about growing mission leaders in order to reach all kids with the love of Jesus. They have a heart for belonging and truly see staff and leaders, bringing out the best in those they supervise while fostering a culture of belonging, growth, and excellence. Key Responsibilities Supervise 6‑7 diverse areas and/or area start‑ups in Greater Twin Cities (High School, Middle School, Kids with Disabilities) ensuring healthy supervision. Focus on personal/professional/spiritual development of Area Directors, retention and leadership development. Model servant leadership, foster belonging, growth, and excellence. Fundraise for the role and regional initiatives, engaging in personal fundraising and supporting regional fundraising initiatives. Serve on the NSR Supervision Team and Operations Team, and participate in other regional projects/initiatives as assigned. Target start date: August 1, 2026. Ministry Functions Spiritual Development – "following Jesus." Prayer and spiritual disciplines, fellowship, growth and health and church relationships. Develop a yearly personal growth plan fostering a vibrant spiritual life with solitude, retreat, reflection, prayer, and commitment to understanding God’s Word. Seek and maintain church relationships and disciplines within active church community. Actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community. Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development. Ensure that all Young Life ministry in the region is designed and carried out with a dependence on prayer out of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Leadership Development – "Equipping leaders, committee and staff." Key volunteer care, recruiting, team building and training, supervision and vision casting. Assist Regional Director in casting vision for reaching "every kid" within the region. Assist Regional Director in developing diverse leadership and ministries. Work with the Regional Director to recruit, interview, hire and place staff within the region. Supervise, develop and evaluate staff, providing resources and experiences needed for the vision. Facilitate departures when necessary and as assigned. Assist Regional Director in development and implementation of regional trainings. Conduct assignments or events as assigned by the Regional Director (leadership weekends, recruiting days, staff development, leader training, etc.). Resource Development – "fueling the ministry." Events, major donor care, public relations (branding) and TDS team. Help areas develop committees. Communicate regularly with committee and TDS chairs within the region. Help develop and lead the region’s fundraising strategy, ensuring excellent communication to donors. Raise the necessary funds to carry out the regional ministry vision with the Regional Director. Ensure a TDS plan including vision statement and strategy and financial master plan implemented and reviewed for each area under your direct supervision. Expected to raise a portion of the person budget as agreed upon with the RD. Work with Development staff to identify potential donors for mission‑wide efforts. Coordinate and conduct quality events reflecting Young Life’s capacity to impact kids and warrant the investment of participants’ personal and corporate resources. Work with the area committee to develop good community and church relationships. Recruit, develop, encourage and sustain a diverse regional committee (if appropriate). Direct Ministry – "Proclaiming and discipling." Contact work, club, campaigners and camp. Assist in the development of new areas and identify interested adults to help ministry grow. Visit area as needed or assign (routine and emergency crisis visits). Observe and evaluate local areas to ensure youth ministry is carried out with excellence. Assist the RD to ensure a regional plan in place to grow Young Life (multi‑cultural, specialized ministries). Maintain ministry contact with kids as necessary. Provide networking opportunities for additional camping experiences using non‑Young Life camps and discipleship experiences. Ministry Support – "Taking care of business." Accounting, administration, communication (internal), data management and strategic plan. Maintain professionalism concerning office hours, dress, conduct, and time management. Provide clear, prompt, appropriate, and professional communication to everyone within the scope of ministry. Develop an appropriate system for reporting, expense report responsibilities, and use of regional funds via Young Life accounting applications. Set yearly strategic ministry plan growth and initiatives to grow the ministry; review them regularly. Implement and support regional initiatives (student staff, program, multi‑cultural advance, Forward). Accept both short and long‑term assignments of projects. Education College degree preferred. Qualifications Completion of YL Core Training — Phase One. Proven experience as a Young Life Area Director preferred. Must be able to supervise at a distance. Proven spiritual leader. Proven leadership in developing diverse staff and ministries. Proven relational skills with both kids and adults. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Has the potential and capacity to function as a regional director. Profess a belief in Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord. Must sign a Statement of Faith requiring belief in Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord.
