Accounting Assistant

Pay Range: $25-$28 per hour

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of a busy Accounting Department. This part-time position is ideal for someone with strong administrative and accounting skills who enjoys working with financial data, maintaining accurate records, and supporting a collaborative team.

The Accounting Assistant will assist with data entry, invoice processing, reconciliations, financial reporting, accounts payable and receivable activities, and general administrative support. Strong Microsoft Excel skills are essential, as this role requires working with spreadsheets, large datasets, formulas, and financial information.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with daily accounting and financial administrative tasks
• Enter, update, and maintain accurate financial information in accounting systems and spreadsheets
• Create and maintain Excel spreadsheets, trackers, and reports
• Review financial data for accuracy and identify discrepancies or missing information
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
• Process and organize invoices, receipts, payments, and other financial documentation
• Support the preparation of reports and documentation for the Accounting team
• Perform data entry and verify information between accounting systems and spreadsheets
• Assist with month-end and year-end accounting activities as needed
• Maintain organized electronic and physical financial records
• Communicate with vendors regarding invoices, payments, and supporting documentation
• Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial and company information
• Provide general administrative support and assist with special projects as assigned

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or an accounting support role preferred
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
• Experience working with spreadsheets and large amounts of financial data
• Comfortable using formulas and functions such as SUM, SUMIF/SUMIFS, COUNTIF, IF, XLOOKUP, and VLOOKUP
• Ability to identify discrepancies and maintain a high level of accuracy
• Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Comfortable learning and working within accounting and financial software systems
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting an Accounting Department in a professional services environment
• Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and reconciliations
• Experience working with accounting or financial software systems

Compensation: $25-$28 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
