Summary About the Position: This position is located at Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital, Fort Polk, Louisiana.
- This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.
- Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.
- Store incoming shipments in a holding area until items are processed for storage.
- Receive incoming shipments of medical supplies, blank forms, and publications from several supply sources.
- Input receipt into computer, mark receipt with index number/location.
- Check stock identification change lists to ensure the selection and assembly of proper items for issue.
- Complete necessary documentation with stock information and quantity for the requisitioning of medical supplies from a supplier.
- Set up proper storage areas for material within the general warehousing plan.
- Operate forklifts capable of lifting 2,000 to 6,000 pounds as high as 168 inches to move supplies.
- Comply with governing directions in respect to storage of medical items, blank forms, and publications.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- This position requires the incumbent to operate a motor vehicle and a valid state driver's license is required.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain within 30 days of employment a Class D driver's license for heavy trucks; and other certifications necessary for operation of government vehicles.
- A pre-employment and annual physical examinations are required.
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 70 pounds may be required.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is, therefore, subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccination.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
- Physical Effort: Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking over rough and uneven surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching; or similar activities in uncomfortable positions. May be required to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time. Lifts and carries items that weigh up to 70 pounds; however, assistance is required from other warehousemen, laborers, and equipment operators when moving items over 70 pounds. Employee is regularly assigned to activities which involve stocking and retrieving items over shelves and cabinets. Operates forklifts and motor vehicles (occasionally up to 4 ton).
- Working Conditions: Works inside and outside subject to heat, cold, damp, drafty. or poorly lighted areas. May work on open docks or storage yards. Work may be dirty, dusty, and greasy. The incumbent is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, and bruises; falls from ladders; or injury from mechanical conveyor systems or other material handling equipment. The work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts which requires special safety precautions, such as working around moving warehouse equipment, carts or machines. Employees may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, gowns, safety shoes, goggles, hearing protection, and gloves. Incumbent will be required to work day, evening and night shifts on regular workdays, weekends and holidays. When required, drives throughout the installation and/or off post to civilian hospitals within a 100 mile radius.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

- This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. In making this determination, the agency may consider your performance and conduct; agency needs and interests; whether your continued employment supports organizational or Government goals; and whether it promotes the efficiency of the Federal service. Continued employment requires written certification that it advances the public interest.
- Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
- Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
- Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement.

- Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest.
