Job Title: Housekeeping Supervisor

Reports to: Housekeeping Manager

Status: Non-Exempt / Hourly

Job Summary:

Supervise the operations of the housekeeping staff promoting a safe environment and quality service to achieve maximum guest satisfaction, protection of assets and minimal expenses.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Self-starting personality with an even disposition to effectively communicate with guests, team members and community.
• Be familiar with and adhere to hotel brand standards and other policies / rules of conduct, to include personal appearance / grooming, attendance, and safe / efficient operations.
• Supervise the housekeeping staff; providing open communication, training, coaching, and counseling and providing performance feedback to ensure maximum efficiency.
• Supervise and inspect the cleaning of the guest rooms, turndown service, public areas and back of the house; ensure compliance with accident/loss prevention programs, health/sanitation standards and regulations to achieve a high level of cleanliness and guest satisfaction
• Issue supplies/goods to staff at beginning of shift to control inventory and ensure proper supplies are available while controlling expenses.
• Issue daily housekeeping assignments by reviewing occupancy, special requests, VIP arrivals, and priority areas
• Break the house by organizing and balancing room assignments; and prepare and distribute daily housekeeping boards to ensure an efficient workload, timely room turnover, and a smooth housekeeping operation.
• Respond to guest requests, concerns and problems to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Maintain housekeeping records, including room status reports, key log, and inventory documentation.
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of cleaning equipment.
• Implement emergency training and procedures to ensure appropriate protection of the hotel, guests, staff and company assets.
• Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
• Perform any other job related duties as assigned.
• Communicates with the Front Office and Engineering Departments as needed regarding room and maintenance requests from the guests.
• Has complete working knowledge of software systems.
• Can perform all the housekeeping functions.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Must have a flexible schedule and ability to work days, evenings or nights any day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
• Must have exceptional customer service skills.
• Demonstrated ability to perform multiple tasks in a busy environment and remain flexible.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Must have a self-starting personality with an even disposition to effectively communicate with guests and staff.
• Possess excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills. Computer literacy and financial management a must.

Education and Experience:

• Prior customer service experience.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Responsible for managing all housekeeping staff during shift.
• Ability to lead, direct and work with people.
• Must manage all associates in a firm and fair manner.
• Expected to supervise, train, and maintain all housekeeping staff in absence of Housekeeping Manager.

Physical Requirements:

• Stand/walk on feet for 8 hours and work in a restrictive space/environment.
• Must have eyesight enabling vision both near and far.
• Finger dexterity to type, to write, and work on a computer.
• Must speak in a clear, understandable voice, hear at a basic level, and understand English.
• Must be able to bend, stretch arms overhead and lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds.
