Senior Observability EngineerThe OptumServe Enterprise Monitoring team is seeking a Senior Observability Engineer to lead the design, automation, and operational excellence of our enterprise observability platforms. This role is heavily focused on Dynatrace administration, Python development, CI/CD engineering, and Observability-as-Code practices supporting mission-critical applications across on-premises, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with deep experience building scalable observability solutions, automating platform operations, developing monitoring integrations, and enabling DevOps teams through self-service monitoring capabilities.Primary Responsibilities:Dynatrace Platform Engineering Serve as the primary technical SME for Dynatrace Managed and Dynatrace SaaS environmentsDesign, implement, and maintain Dynatrace monitoring standards, management zones, alerting strategies, tagging frameworks, and service ownership modelsConfigure and optimize OneAgent, ActiveGate, Distributed Tracing, RUM, Synthetic Monitoring, Davis AI, and Automation WorkflowsDevelop enterprise observability standards and governance practicesPython Development & Automation Develop Python-based automation solutions to streamline observability operations and platform administrationBuild integrations leveraging Dynatrace APIs, REST APIs, webhooks, and cloud-native servicesCreate automated onboarding, validation, compliance, reporting, and remediation capabilitiesDesign self-healing workflows and automated operational runbooksCI/CD & Observability as Code Implement and support Observability-as-Code using Dynatrace Monaco, Terraform, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, and/or JenkinsBuild automated deployment pipelines for Dynatrace configurations, dashboards, alerting profiles, SLOs, and management zonesIntegrate monitoring validation into software delivery pipelines and create automated quality gatesYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:5+ years of hands-on Dynatrace engineering experience5+ years supporting enterprise observability, monitoring, or SRE platforms3+ years developing production-grade Python automation solutionsExperience building CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab, Jenkins, or Azure DevOpsExperience implementing Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and/or AnsibleExperience utilizing Dynatrace APIs and configuration automationSolid understanding of distributed tracing, OpenTelemetry, metrics, logs, events, and reliability engineering practicesIf you are offered this position, you will be required to provide extensive personal information to obtain and maintain a suitability or determination of eligibility for a Confidential/Secret or Top Secret security clearance as a condition of your employmentUnited States CitizenshipPreferred Qualifications:Dynatrace Professional or Advanced CertificationExperience with Monaco (Monitoring as Code)Experience with Kubernetes and OpenShiftExperience with Elasticsearch, Grafana, Prometheus, Fluent Bit, and OpenTelemetryExperience supporting FedRAMP High or government-regulated environmentsPay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $91,700 - $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
