MachinistFAA Covered positionRole Summary/Purpose: Set up and operate a variety of computer-controlled and mechanically controlled machine tools such as lathes, VTI, milling machines, and grinders to repair or overhaul aviation components using approved technical data and applicable customer and regulatory requirements.Essential Responsibilities:Read blueprints, sketches, or computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) filesSet up and operate manual, automatic, and/or computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine toolsAlign, secure, and adjust cutting tools and workpiecesMonitor the feed and speed of machinesTurn, mill, drill, shape, and grind machine parts to specificationsMeasure, examine, and test completed products for defectsWork with engineering on modification of repairs or new repairsMaintain a clean and safe work environmentQualifications / Skills:High school diploma/GEDOne to two years related experience or trainingMust be a US Citizen or US Permanent residentRequires the ability to read, write, and speak the English language: interpret and follow written procedures, complete documentation, and follow verbal instructionsBasic math and computer skillsDemonstrated proficiency in the use of measuring instruments, such as scales, micrometers, venires, calipers, dial indicators/surface plates, surface testers, etc.Analytic skillsMust have schedule flexibility; Training on 1st shift, and set schedule to be 2nd shift Monday - Friday 2:30pm-11:00pm with a shift differentialCNC Machinist Technical Certificate desiredPhysical Demands / Work Environment: The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
