Production Technician I

Position Summary

The Production Technician I position is responsible for various production support tasks. This position is responsible for handling the product off the extrusion line (putting into trays, boxing/bagging product). Production Technicians will be responsible for monitoring inline measuring equipment to ensure that any non conforming product is segregated and eliminated. The Production Technician I will also support line change reductions - staging raw material, gathering/staging tooling, purging extrusion machines, etc. The Production Technician I will also support tank washing and other extrusion preventive maintenance activities as needed. This job operates in a controlled manufacturing environment designed for sustained production. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

• Monitors results of inline monitoring equipment - ensuring that non conforming product is identified and segregated
• Manually trays product off of the extrusion line when automation is not an option - completes required paperwork for traceability accurately
• Manually boxes/bags product off of the extrusion line when automation is not an option - completes required paperwork for traceability accurately
• Labels product for final release while ensuring traceability of the product when necessary
• Perform quick visual inspection of tubing as it comes off the conveyor belt
• Notify the Production Operator and/or Supervisor of noticeable product defects that deviate from the specification
• Supports operators by staging raw material and tooling in accordance with the production schedule
• Supports operators by purging extrusion lines and setting up production line for the next work order
• Supports production by cleaning extrusion tanks when needed
• Supports production by completing preventive maintenance tasks when needed to decrease production equipment downtime
• Contributes to improving production efficiency
• Contributes to reducing internal and external rejects
• Contributes to improving customer satisfaction through increased OTD
• Works toward increasing customer satisfaction through attention to the production OTD KPI goals
• Train on new policies and procedures as dictated by customer or departmental requirements
• Utilize specific equipment related to traying/handling/packaging as necessary
• Perform routine work area clean-up and tray washing
• Provide training for new team members as assigned
• Employee may be responsible for moving and/or lifting trays that weigh approximately 6 pounds when empty
• Obey all safety rules, use caution in work activities, and continuously practice safe behaviors
• Immediately report unsafe conditions/behaviors and work-related injuries to site supervision

Required

• Ability to understand specific directions and follow guidelines that are common throughout the department
• Must be able to identify product defects that violate customer specifications
• Maintain a constant focus on quality and accuracy
• Ability to take instruction and apply using judgment in various situations
• Work efficiently with moderate supervision
• Required to communicate with other trayers, production operators, and supervisors
• Adaptable to changes in job duties and priorities as production needs demand
